Ingredients
Directions
  1. In a medium size bowl, combine ground chuck, brown sugar seasoning and chili powder until well blended. Form into four six-ounce patties. Let rest at room temperature while pre-heating grill.
  2. Pre-heat a charcoal grill with charcoal until coals are grey and grill is hot.
  3. Quickly grill bun halves until lightly browned. Set aside.
  4. Place burger patties on the hot grill over direct heat. Grill for 4-6 minutes. Flip burgers and grill for another 2-3 minutes. Top each burger with a slice of cheddar and pepper-jack cheese. Grill for another 2-3 minutes or until burgers are cooked to desired doneness.
  5. Transfer burgers to a clean plate. Sprinkle each with additional seasoning if desired, then loosely tent with foil while warming onions.
  6. Warm onions by spreading them on a small baking sheet. Toast in an air fryer or toaster oven until lightly browned and hot. Remove and set aside.
  7. To Serve: Place one slice of pepper-jack cheese on the bottom of each bun. Place one burger over cheese on bottom bun. Spoon three tablespoons of chili over each burger. Sprinkle crispy onions over chili. Place bun top over crispy onions. Serve.
